Platform combat boots echo through an abandoned hall, creating a crunchy rhythm you can’t turn away from.
Inspired by the brooding, infectious beats of 90s trip hop, e.lissa fuses catchy choruses with scathing, autobiographical lyrics. One moment you’re hearing the dark, macabre tones of Fiona Apple and Massive Attack. The next, you’re swaying to shimmering synths and delicate high hats.
e.lissa’s debut single, “Daisy Chain,” explores the contrast between what people perceive and what’s real.
“You could be seconds away from crumbling, and people would assume you’re living the dream,” e.lissa said. “But what would happen if we stopped pretending and did something to change it?”
Austin producer and musician Dossey created the single’s sonic landscape, marrying nostalgic sounds with modern production techniques.
“This track feels like I’m wondering through a liminal space,” e.lissa said. “It’s a surreal setting that has me questioning what’s real and what’s imagined.”
Elissa has worked as a professional vocalist in Austin for the past 11 years, singing with variety and wedding bands across the region. While she loves encouraging crowds to boot, scoot, and boogie, her solo project allows her to shed the sequins and share the honesty.
